District of San Francisco New Orleans
The Brothers of the Christian Schools have announced the inauguration of the District of San Francisco New Orleans in the Lasallian Region of North America. The new District officially commenced its operations at midnight on July 1, 2014.
The District of San Francisco New Orleans is the westernmost province of the Lasallian mission in the United States. Founded in San Francisco in 1868, the District as of 2008 sponsors schools and other learning communities in Washington, Oregon, California, and Arizona.
The District of San Francisco New Orleans (SFNO) was created by the combining of the former Districts of San Francisco and New Orleans-Santa Fe, with both transferring their operations to the new District. Its composition will include 134 De La Salle Brothers, over 1,300 Lasallian Partners, and over 12,000 students in 20 ministries located in the states of Arizona, California, Colorado, Louisiana, New Mexico, Oregon, Texas, and Washington, and in Tijuana, Mexico.
Combining a rich tradition and long experience with an up-to-date capability to recognize unmet needs and to answer them with innovative curricula, pedagogies, and school structures, the District is building up the Lasallian family in the west and has expanded its educational offerings dramatically.
Lasallian education is designed to prepare young people to understand their dignity as children of God, to reach their full potential as human beings, and to live lives of service.
