Why do we have a Student Fundraiser?
At the core of the Lasallian mission is our commitment to providing excellent education to all students, regardless of their financial means. Throughout the school year, La Salle Prep students generously support outside organizations through community service and fundraising. The Student Fundraiser is the one time during the year La Salle students come together to raise funds in support of one another.
Proceeds from the sale of wreaths, garlands, holiday swags, and Jazz apples© directly benefit the students of La Salle by bridging the gap between tuition and the true cost of educating each student, a subsidy of $2,760 that every family enjoys. Last year, students raised over $75,000 in net proceeds from the Student Fundraiser.
La Salle awarded approximately $1.7 million in financial aid to enrolled families this school year. While this is an impressive figure, it still falls short of this year’s documented need by approximately $1 million. The funds raised through the Student Fundraiser go directly toward providing financial assistance to La Salle families.
How does the Student Fundraiser work?
Each La Salle Prep student is required to sell a minimum of 15 ‘units.’ One unit is defined as one wreath or swag, nine feet of garland, or one box of 25 apples.
At the end of the selling period in May 2013, families who have not met their 15 unit requirement will be billed for the remaining units at $18.00 per unit. Families who have questions or concerns about their ability to sell their required units should contact Gina Stack at gstack@lsprep.org.
How do I order wreaths?
Wreaths, garlands, and swags may also be ordered via a paper order form, which can be found here: “2012 Order Form- Greenery”
Wreaths may also be delivered to a customer’s home via UPS for an additional charge. All UPS orders must be placed on UPS order forms. (See order forms below.) UPS orders will be shipped the week after Thanksgiving. UPS orders cannot be shipped to P.O. boxes, Alaska, Hawaii, or foreign countries. Wreaths that are to be shipped must include a UPS order form, which can be found here: “UPS Order Form – 2012”
All wreath order forms must be turned in to a student’s 4th period class on Friday, October 26, 2012.
Wreaths, garlands, and swags will be available for pick up on Sunday, November 18 from 10:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m. and Monday, November 19 from 7:00 a.m.-7:00 p.m. La Salle’s offices will be closed during the Thanksgiving holiday from Wednesday, November 21 to Sunday, November 25 so wreaths, garlands, and swags will not be available during that time.
How do I order apples?
Students may sell Jazz apples throughout the school year for pick up during November, January, March, and May. Apple orders sent to the school by October 26, 2012 for pick up in November, will be available for pick up at La Salle Prep on November 18 and 19. Apple order deadlines and distribution dates will be announced later in the year.
A great way to complete the 15 unit Student Fundraiser requirement is to sell Apple Packages. One Apple Package includes one box of apples delivered during each of the distribution months- November, January, March, and May—for a total of 4 boxes. Sell 4 Apple Packages to family and friends and your Student Fundraiser requirement has been met!
