La Salle Prep seeks a new President. Located in Milwaukie, Oregon, a suburb of the Portland metropolitan area, the school has a strong and steady enrollment of 700 students and operates in a financially stable environment while being debt free. The President is hired by and accountable to the school’s Board of Trustees (“BOT”), which in turn is responsible to the Lasallian Education Corporation, an oversight entity for the De La Salle Christian Brothers of the District of San Francisco New Orleans. Supported by a strong Administrative Leadership Team, the President works closely with the Principal and the rest of the team in the support of BOT initiatives.
The President oversees all facets of the school’s operations, providing visionary and strategic leadership to staff in the areas of academic excellence, institutional advancement, enrollment management, community and donor relations, and financial growth and stability. The selected candidate will be responsible for fostering an atmosphere and professional environment of learning, achievement, cooperation and respect, all while maintaining our Catholicity and Lasallian charism.
The new President of La Salle Prep will be a visionary and energetic leader who exemplifies the mission of the school and passionately embraces Catholic education of young people. The successful candidate will have significant senior leadership experience, financial acumen and expertise in business management. Experience in planning and overseeing capital projects to enhance facilities is desirable as well as experience in donor prospecting and fundraising. Paramount to success in this executive position is excellent leadership and communication skills that inspire collaboration from all constituent groups.
The new President should possess an understanding of the President/Principal model of administration and be comfortable working in a policy governance environment. While day-to-day faith formation is the responsibility of the Principal, the President ensures that the school and its mission remain faithful to Catholic teachings and Lasallian charism in all facets of its operations. The ideal candidate should be a practicing Roman Catholic with a commitment to Catholic education.
A qualified applicant will have a demonstrated minimum of 10 years of progressive business and/or non-profit administrative experience which would include the management of a leadership team and budgetary responsibilities including a working knowledge of financial statements and sound business practices. Preferred would be a candidate who has had leadership experience in Catholic education and who is viewed as a strong and credible witness of Catholic education.
The candidate will have demonstrated a strong record of achievement in fundraising and revenue generation as well as a working knowledge of capital campaigns, corporate sponsorship and planned giving and scholarship programs. A bachelor's degree in business or other appropriate field of study is required.
Commencement: Assume responsibilities by July 1, 2018
