Summer Reading Author Reyna Grande: Across A Hundred Mountains

Mission Statement
In order to encourage life-long learning, La Salle Catholic College Preparatory offers LEAP, a dynamic program of intellectual enrichment.  Open to all students, LEAP activities enhance La Salle’s college preparatory curriculum and provide real world and academic experiences in a variety of interest areas.

Program Overview
La Salle will host monthly on-campus events during the academic year (October – May).  Students who wish to participate in LEAP are asked to attend at least five of these events.  In addition, LEAP participants will also attend at least THREE approved off-campus events.  Off-campus events include readings, performances, lectures and workshops offered to the general public in and around the Portland metropolitan area. LEAP events are open to the community, as part of La Salle's Community Education efforts.

Through the LEAP, graduates can achieve Lasallian Scholar designation.

Program Objectives
1. The LEAP program will provide students with learning experiences which complement and extend their classroom learning.

2. The LEAP program will allow for cross-curricular education as the topics covered in the presentations integrate various disciplines.

3. The LEAP program will allow for the entire community (students, faculty and staff, parents, board members, alumni) to participate in educational experiences.
