Mission Statement
La Salle is a Catholic, college preparatory high school dedicated to creating a safe and nurturing environment. Students are challenged to fulfill their spiritual, academic and social potential in response to the demands of an ever-changing global society. The school is especially committed to providing increased opportunities for economically disadvantaged youth.
La Salle graduates are:
I. Academically Competent Individuals Who: a. Complete a rigorous academic program in the liberal arts tradition that prepares students for higher education. b. Demonstrate the ability to think critically, act creatively, integrate gospel values, analyze and solve problems in a variety of disciplines. c. Utilize effective written, oral, technological, and collaborative communication skills. d. Demonstrate the ability to synthesize information from diverse sources and use that information to evaluate issues of contemporary life.
II. Moral, Spiritual Individuals Who: a. Honor the presence of God in self and others. b. Understand the message of Jesus Christ in the tradition of the Catholic Church. c. Possess the skills to grow ethically and morally as a mature individual. d. Develop a sense of community which includes an understanding of and respect for the dignity and diversity of others in our increasingly interdependent world.
III. Responsible, Socially Aware Persons Who: a. Put faith into action by responding to the needs of others, especially the poor and marginalized, through Christian service. b. Connect learning in the classroom with the need for social justice and responsible citizenship.
IV. Well-Rounded, Life-Long Learners Who: a. Assume the academic responsibility for their learning. b. Understand the value of a healthy lifestyle that will enable them to become well-integrated individuals. |
